Jesse A. Goldner, JD

Professor Goldner joined the faculty at the Saint Louis University School of Law in 1973 where currently he is the John D. Valentine Professor of Law.  He co-founded its Center for Health Law Studies and directed it for 12 years. He holds secondary appointments in the Saint Louis University School of Medicine in Pediatrics and in Psychiatry and the Saint Louis University School of Public Health in Health Administration. He also serves as Adjunct Professor of Health Care Ethics in the Albert Gnaegi Center for Health Care Ethics.

Professor Goldner has chaired the Saint Louis University Institutional Review Board (IRB) and was the Draftsman for the University’s initial Regulations on Human Experimentation and Assurances to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in 1981.  Most recently, Goldner was a member of the University’s initial Conflicts of Interest Committee.

He has been a member of the Ethics Committee of Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center since 1988.  He served as a founding member of the Council on Accreditation of the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Programs and was its inaugural Chair. He currently is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology and serves on its Ethics Committee.  In 2004 he was named Distinguished Health Law Teacher of the Year by the American Society of Law, Medicine & Ethics.

Professor Goldner served as Co-Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Health Law from 1996-2007 and was the Symposium Editor for Issues on Institutional Review Boards for The Journal of Law, Medicine and Ethics.
